Young Decision Makers

Young Decision Makers promote global sexual and reproductive health and rights in the national and international networks as well as in other related forums. Members of the group are representatives of different political parties and nation-wide student organisations. They inform their own networks on population and development issues as well as organise activities in the group’s name.

Young Decision Makers is a part of the European Young Decision Makers Initiative which is coordinated by the European Parliamentary Forum on Population and Development (EPF).


The basis of the activities are to activate youth in decision-making involving them and raising awareness of the risks and disadvantages related to sexual health and rights of the youth in the developing countries. Young Decision Makers Groups exists also in several other EU countries.

Young Decision Makers of Väestöliitto produces position papers, writes articles (to relevant publications), organises workshops and seminars, attends to international conferences as well as aims at strengthened cooperation between the European Young Decision Makers Groups. The Group also attends the meetings of the Finnish All-Party Parliamentary Group on Population and Development as an observer.
