Cooperation in Russia

VYBORG

A project in the district of Vyborg in Russia was started in 2003. The project aims to promote the well-being of children and young people by increasing their knowledge on sexual health, producing materials and developing services for young people.

Training courses are organised to various groups of professionals working with young people, such as teachers, psychologists and physicians, on issues related to sexual health and on sex education for young people. Training is also provided for young people themselves and at young peoples’ request, also for their parents. The project is being funded by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Finnish Children and Youth Foundation.

SAINT PETERSBURG

In 2009 a yearlong project was started in Saint Petersburg which aims to develop family working practices for social workers working with HIV positive individuals. During the course of the project social workers are educated and they try out the methods in their own work. In addition education on sexual health related issues is provided for those who work with adolescents.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Saint Petersburg AIDS Center, Center of Social Development and Information, Fund Affiliate, Women's Health in St. Petersburg- Organisation and AIDS, Statistics and Health -Organisation.
