Fertility treatments are used to support or assist one’s own reproductive biology and thus increase the chances for a pregnancy to begin.
Today there are many ways to treat infertility.
Patience is often needed although as many as 45% of couples need only one effective treatment to have a child.
The treatment methods include:
1. Ovulation treatment 2. Insemination 3. In vitro fertilization treatments 4. Donated eggs, sperm and embryos
New treatment methods are constantly being developed.
With a so-called long embryo culture (a 5-6 day culture instead of the usual 2-3 days), the viability of the embryos can be analyzed before they are transferred into the uterus. This avoids transferring embryos that would probably not have had a possibility of developing further. |
