Ageing and generations

The ageing population and interaction between family generations are central research focuses of the Population Research Institute.

In recent years, we have coordinated two large research projects about the lives of Finnish people aged 50 or older: Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE) and Generational Transmissions in Finland (GENTRANS, Sukupolvien ketju in Finnish).

Using the data collected in these two projects, we are currently also researching relationships of people aged 50 and older in Finland in our LoveAge project. We also study active and heatlhy ageing using these data in the NetResilience research consortium.
