Digital well-being in families

Our everyday lives have quickly been permeated by technology. The Digital Well-being in Families project, on which the Family Federation of Finland, the Finnish Society on Media Education and Demos Helsinki collaborated, studied the effects of digitalization on close relationships and well-being in general. We have applied this information to recommended action points and concrete materials that support digital well-being among Finns.

The roadmap for digital well-being (in Finnish) was created by Demos Helsinki with the help of the Population Research Institute and the Finnish Society on Media Education. The Finnish Society on Media Education has also published a new Finnish language online guide for citizens who wish to improve digital well-being in their own livesThe materials present solutions for families, couples and the Finnish society, so we can respond to the challenges and possibilities of technology with the help of researched information. Our goal is to make Finland a role model for other countries when it comes to digital well-being.

The project started in early 2019 and came to its end in August 2020. It was funded by the government’s analysis, assessment and research activities (VN TEAS).
